On Monday, June the 8th the school board of trustees will hold a public budget hearing to review and discuss the 2020-2021 school year budget proposed by the Superintendent. At the May 11th school board meeting the board approved a compensation proposal that excluded step increases for current Teachers and no pay increase for other district employees. An increase in the employees portion of the medical plan has not been determined.

The district is wanting to be conservative with the budget, while other area districts are proposing increases for their Teachers and Staff. Additionally, FBISD is proposing a calendar that may reflect a longer workday or an extended school year.

The district anticipates an estimated budget surplus for the 2020-2021 school year, and estimates ending the current school year with a 239.5 million dollar fund balance. Fort Bend AFT is asking the Elected School Board Members to maintain the current insurance cost and give all staff a raise.

Here is your Union's proposal to the board:

  • A step increase for teachers, librarians, nurses, and counselors.
  • A raise for all paraprofessionals and other support staff of $500.
  • No increase in insurance cost.
